The Cross Country Race
Cross-country is supposed to be an exhilarating and challenging sport, not a blood sport.  Danny Hupfer made the Junior Varsity cross-country team for Camillo Junior High.  On the first race Danny had a discouraging experience.  He had been at the front of the race with a bunch of eighth graders behind him.  On the last lap Danny fell way behind and when he came around the bend everyone saw that he had bloody knees.  I think that this helped Holling win his race because he wanted to prove that the eighth graders should not be sore losers because a younger student is winning.  Holling wanted to show the eighth graders that seventh graders can be better and he did just that when he won his race.  When I play on a sport team, I do get intimidated by older players.  Although when my family and friends are there to cheer me on I want to do better, they give me motivation.

Heather's Homecoming
In May, Holling's sister, Heather left with her friend Chit to go and find herself in California.  During Heather's absence, Holling realizes that it is quiet, and empty around the house.  Holling also realizes that he loves his sister and that he misses her.  One day, late at night Heather phones Holling to tell him that she is alone and has only $4.00.  The next day Holling sends Heather money so she can get to New York City by train.  When she is scheduled to arrive in the city both his parents refused to go and pick her up from the station.  The only way that Holling can get her home is if Meryl Lee's father drops him off at the train station on his way to the Yankee Stadium.  Before Holling leaves, he tells his mom he needs money for two train tickets and two big lunches.  When Heather stepped off the train she ran to Holling and hugged him telling him how scared she was.  They spent the rest of the day telling each other of their past experiences.  They had a big lunch and walked through New York City.  They took a train out of the city and walked home from the station.  At dinner, when their father asked if Heather found herself, Holling said that she found him.

                                                  Heather's Homecoming

In the chapter May, Heather had left with Chit in his yellow bug car, to go to Rocky Mountains with him. When she had left, her whole family felt really emotional, but her dad was emotional in a bad way. Holling had thought that the house felt a bit empty without her. One night, Heather called and spoke to Holling, but for most of the time they were on the phone, they both were just crying. Heather told Holling that she only had $4.00 with her when she needed $44.55 to get back to New York City, and from that call, Heather was alone and Chit left her. Holling was so kind and had sent $52.00 for Heather to come back home. Once Heather got back to the bus station near her home, Holling asked his dad if he could go pick up Heather and he refused to. Then his dad was kidding and told Holling for him to drive and pick her up, so he did. For Holling and Heather's reunion, they were so kind to each other, holing each others hands and having dinner together.

Heather's Homecoming
This chapter was honestly my favourite, in the beginning of the chapter it was okay but as it went along it got really interesting, this is the type of book that you never want to put down, a real page turner!
This week we read chapter May:
In this chapter Heather got into a big fight with her dad, after her dad insisted she help him with his work. They also fought over if Heather was going to Columbia University. Heather was destined and determined to go Columbia University, but her dad had other plans for her. Meanwhile Heather had been seeing a boy named chit, Chit would often go to Heather's house, they would talk and laugh, then go for a ride in Chit's little yellow bug car with flowers around the side. Eventually after all this drama with her dad, Heather had enough her and chit drove off to Rocky Mountain without anyone knowing, she did leave a note on her bed saying she left with Chit and not to worry about her, she'll call soon... From then on things got awkward and quiet. Holling realized that he really missed and loved his sister; he realized that whenever your siblings are around, it seems like you hate your siblings but the time they're not there, you realize how much you love them. A few days after Heather called late at night when she knew no one but Holling would be awake. Holling answered, they both started crying on the phone, Heather told him, she was stranded alone in Minneapolis and had no way of getting home, since she only had $4.00 left and the train ticket would be about $45.00, and now, the phone in the phone booth she was using, was running out of seconds and that's the last time he heard from her. She left saying not to tell her parents, that night. The next day Holling went to the bank and turned the $100.00 dollars he won at his track meet to cash, but he only got $52.00 back for specific reasons. He sent the money to Heather at the train station, it had a few glitches getting there but she got it. Heather called Holling and told him the time to pick her up at the train station. Holling didn't tell his parents until the next morning. His mom was tearing up, but his dad had no pity for her, as if he didn't care, but Holling yelling at his dad begged him to pick her up, but he went to mow the lawn. Holling then received a call from Meryl Lee asking if he wanted to go a baseball game, but Holling refused, but he did ask her if her dad could drop him off at the station, he agreed. Holling's mother packed a lunch for two, money for two tickets and he was off. Holling reached the station exactly on time. Holling found Heather, and ran to her crying in her arms, they were so happy to see each other. They spent the afternoon walking around hand in hand, then left for the train. They ate the lunch their mom packed and before they knew it they were home! At their supper their mom was so happy to see Heather; his dad only said one sentence: did you find yourself? She didn't answer, Holling stood up for her, and that was the last word they said...

The Cross Country Race and Heather's Homecoming (The Wednesday Wars)

The Cross Country Race (The Wednesday Wars)
Holling's school had a running competition on a Saturday in April at Salisbury Park for the people that made teams so on Saturday Danny Hupfer and Holling went to races. One race was for the JV boys and one was for the varsity team. Danny was racing first and in the race he was doing very good until the fifth lap because the eighth graders behind him came and bruised his knees when he was in the woods. Since he had bloody knees he could barely walk so he almost finished last. This inspired Holling to get first in the varsity race especially when Danny told him "Beat the pied ninnies. " I can relate to this because I play a game online called Tetris and I am a naturally competitive person. When someone beats my score in Tetris it motivates me because I want to be the best I could possibly be. Not only does this make me better at playing the game but I also have a lot of fun.

Heather's Homecoming (The Wednesday Wars)
In the month of May Holling's sister (Heather) left to go to California to go find herself because her dad was not allowing her to go to Columbia University. One night his sister called at a time she knew that only Holling would be awake to answer. She told Holling that she only had four dollars and a train ticket to New York cost forty-four dollars and fifty-five cents. In order for Holling to get his sister back home he cashed in his Salisbury Park savings bond for fifty-two dollars and he sent the money to his sister. His father refused to take him to pick up his sister so Holling asked his mother for enough money for two train tickets and two big lunches. When he found his sister they had grilled cheese sandwiches, two cokes, and chocolate doughnuts. Holling felt very empty inside without his sister and realized for the first time he loved her. This was probably because he missed all of the good times with her and wanted to have more good times with her.

Meeting a hero

                        Meeting My Hero

The other day we read a book called the Wednesday wars we have been reading this book for quite a while now, we are on the 3rd chapter but the chapter is months so we are on December. The person that inspires me the most is John Lennon, I love his music and he inspires me a lot! He has a band named the beatles as well, The members of the band are: John Lennon, Paul Mccartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr.  Even though this band is way older than me and not my generation I still love their music. They have many major hits but the one that inspires me the most is Imagine by John Lennon its one of my favourite songs and almost every generation has listened to it

Holling's hero

Mickey Mantle is professional baseball player. Holling is a big fan of Mickey. Holling was so happy because Mickey Mantle is going to his school, and Holling is excited to meet him, but Holling realized that his hero is a total jerk, Mickey Mantle won't sign his baseball because Holling is wearing a yellow tights and feathers on the butt and Mickey thinks he's gay. Holling was so sad, but his friend got his back and saved him from the embarrassment.

The author Gary D. Schmidt showed how Holling Hoodhood is feeling by saying he was crushed and crying. I can relate to this story when my cousin told me that there was a famous person and she a big fan , but when she get to meet the girl she was mean, rude old lady. She was just nice in front of the tv, just to get money, and get more famous. Their hero is not what they thought they were.

    Meeting Mickey

Wouldn't it just feel so amazing and heart racing to meet your favourite actor? Maybe a singer, dancer, or an athlete? Unfortunately for Holling Hoodhood, meeting famous Yankees baseball player Mickey Mantle, wasn't everything he had hoped for. Holling was the last to get his baseball signed, but unlike other fans, showed up wearing bright yellow tights with feathers on the butt, and a blue cape. This was because he had just come back from a Shakespeare play. Because of Holling's attire, Mickey had thought he was gay and would not sign his baseball, and tossed it onto the floor, got up, and had said that he was done for the night. Holling was left in shock, nearly about to cry. Something similar happened to me when I was about three years old. My family and I had gone to Disney Land on summer, and I was getting autographs from all of Walt Disney's famous characters. Of course they were just some sweaty people in suits on a scorching day, but I didn't care. I still wanted autographs. After getting Daisy and Donald Duck's signature, Goofy and Pluto's signature, Minnie Mouse's and a whole bunch of other characters' signatures, I headed to line up to get Mickey Mouse's signature. Ironically, just like Holling, I was the last in line, and was getting an autograph from some famous "Mickey". There I was in line, waiting…waiting…and waiting as patient as ever. Finally the little blonde girl in front of me was getting her signature and photos with Mickey. After she left, I took a step toward Mickey with a smile on my face, and a blue book in my hand. The big smile on my face turned into salty tears rolling down my cheeks as Mickey and his two staff workers got up and headed for…well I don't know what it was, but I'm sure it was the change room. "OKAY! THAT WAS THE LAST ONE!" one of the staff shouted. Wait…WHAT?!? What on Earth was this?! Mickey Mouse couldn't give one last autograph to the ONLY little kid left in line? Well, that was fun…not. My mom saw what happened, and gathered me in her arms trying to comfort me. Unlike Holling, I wasn't just about to cry, and held in my tears. I was a three year old for crying out loud! Of course I cried! Even my mom started yelling to them, asking if Mickey could please sign one last book. No. No mercy shown whatsoever. They didn't even look back when I started crying! Some Mickey they've got there. I thought Mickey was supposed to be caring and fun. Eventually I did get a signature from another guy dressed up in a Mickey suit during sometime of the trip, and was pleased with all the rides and attractions. Now that nine years has passed since that experience, I don't care much for sweaty people in suits. Unless they really are a famous celebrity inside...well that's a different story.

                            WEDNESDAY WARS - Chapter December

I know a text to text about Holling Hoodhood's situation, but not exact. First of all, Holling's situation was just about meeting his hero, but his hero just had to break Holling's heart. While Holling had rushed from his play to the Sporting Emporium, he forgot to bring his baseball to get it signed. So, the bus driver was kind enough and gave Holling a pure white baseball that had been left on the bus. Although that wasn't the best thing, the best thing was, that since Holling was in his costume, he forgot his wallet and the bus driver gave him a free ride because he realized how cold it was. After I tell you what happens, you would think that the bus driver was more of a hero than Mickey Mantle. So, as Holling ran in side of the Emporium, he saw his hero Mickey Mantle and Holling was so surprised that he was stuttering to ask Mickey Mantle to sign his baseball. Once he asked, Mickey Mantle refused to sign his baseball because Holling was wearing yellow tights with a hidious costume. Holling started crying a river and his friend saw him and stood up for him. Since his friend got his baseball signed, he just threw it on the ground because he didn't admire him anymore. Gary D Schmidt was able to SHOW us how Holling felt, since he was let down by his own hero, but then the author gave us a happy picture in our mind because Holling's friend was there to stick up for him.

My reflection of a text to text with this chapter is about a movie that I saw. It was about these seven boys that loved baseball, but they especially loved this baseball player named Babe Ruth. In this movie, Babe Ruth wasn't alive, but he popped up in one of the boys dreams as his room started shacking. So Babe Ruth was talking to the boy about some rough things that was happening, but as Babe Ruth was leaving from the dream, the boy had asked him a question, but Babe Ruth didn't give a specific answer and the boy felt sad because he knew that what happened would never happen again.

Wednesday Wars

Holling's idol is Mickey Mantle. He was the best player from the New York Yankees. Holling was very disappointed when Mickey Mantle didn't sign his baseball. He didn't sign it because Holling was wearing a fairy outfit and he thought he was gay. This didn't happen to me when I got my autograph. I went to the Toronto Marlies game and got an autograph from the goalie. He was signing autographs for everyone. I got their on time to get his autograph. Even though he isn't my idol he signed my autograph. That was probably my first autograph.

The Wednesday Wars
The Wednesday wars is still an amazing book so far! I loved every page of this book, well except when it came to Mickey Mantle. Mickey Mantle was a famous baseball player from the Yankees. To Holling Mickey Mantle was not just another baseball player he was Holling's hero.
When Mrs. Baker announced that Mickey Mantle was coming to their town, Holling jumped at the chance literally. He also found out it was the same night as a play he was in, but if he hurried he would make it. Holling hurried and performed well, but he had some delays getting to where Mickey Mantle was. He got there and so did Mickey Mantle. Holling approached Mickey with his baseball, but Holling was still in his costume from his play, (he was the fairy) Mickey had some weird thoughts and denied signing the ball. He dropped the ball and it rolled to Holling's foot. He was shocked, and disappointed, but things did work out.
When I read this I couldn't relate to it right away, but after some thought I found the perfect story. When I was about six years old, Mt parents said that we would be going to Orlando, Florida. (Home of the princesses, Minnie and Mickey mouse and all the other fairy tale characters) At first I had no idea what that was but when I found out I was really excited, and I wanted to go right then at that time but my parents said that they didn't have all the money, so it would be a few months and we would leave in the Christmas week. I would be missing Christmas but at least I would see my favourite princess "Jasmine!" The day finally came; we got our suitcases and left to the airport. It was the weirdest thing, the whole December; not one snowflake, but the day we left, no not light, beautiful, snowflakes a SNOW STORM!  It was terrible, you couldn't see anything except white; our flight was delayed for 10 hours! We stayed there for 10 hours surviving on airport chairs, their excellent food, and whatever else we had in our suitcases. 10 hours finally past and we got on the plane. Planes aren't my thing today but back then it was a joyride! I loved it! It only took 2 hours to get there but 10 to get out of the airport?! We got there settled, then we went to Magic Kingdom home of Jasmine, The whole time we were there I said "Let's see Jasmine," But she was late (probably stuck at the airport) and would come by 4:00 p.m. We passed the time easily and I completely forgot about Jasmine, I looked at the watch 5:00! We ran to where Jasmine was, There was a huge line and she was there till 5:30 if they hurried we could make it. Time slowly counted down the minutes, it was finally my turn but then it was 5:30 time for her to leave, she had to for safety reasons. I cried for about 10 minutes and so were 10 other six year old girls! I got over it and we continued through the kingdom and had lots of fun without Jasmine! We went back to our hotel, I was really happy because it was 12:00 a.m and there was an outdoor  pool right in front of us, so at 12 we went swimming, we were allowed to, they put lights in and around the pool. We enjoyed the rest of our vacation and I was fine without Jasmine….. Okay but I did meet her at a different Kingdom! I was satisfied but I realized how Jasmine could be where I am and at Magic Kingdom at the same time, that's when I found out it wasn't really Jasmine just actresses! People aren't always who you think they are! That's when I passed the little kid stage and grew up!

Relating to The Wednesday Wars

The Wednesday Wars
Holling's Frequent Disappointments and Unfortunate Events

The night of Holling's performance in the Shakespeare play was also the night that his FAVOURITE baseball player on the New York Yankees, Mickey Mantle, was signing baseballs at the Baker Sporting Emporium.  After Holling's spectacular performance the crowd was crying and applauding with amazement.  The night was fantastic, but after his performance as Arial the 'warrior', Holling had to skedaddle to get to the Baker Sporting Emporium before Mickey Mantle left.  So Holling took a bow and bolted off to the dressing room to get dressed for the signing but the door was locked!  Mr. Goldman was still on stage bowing and bowing and it didn't look like he was finishing soon.  So Holling grabbed a blue, floral cape to cover his leotards with feathers on the bottom- and scurried outside to look for his father. His father hadn't arrived yet and Holling couldn't risk missing out on Mickey Mantle so he jumped on the bus.  Of course he had no money so Holling had to convince his way onto the bus, he also forgot his baseball but the bus driver was nice enough to give Holling a brand new baseball from the lost and found. When he got to the Sporting Emporium Holling was nervous with anxiousness, there was no line up and there in front of him was the one, the only, Mickey Mantle.  Holling walked up to Mickey in his cape and his yellow tights with feathers on his bottom- he handed Mickey the new baseball.  Mickey Mantle looked at Holling in confusion, wondering what Holling was supposed to be dressed up as.  After questioning   Holling, Mickey threw his unsigned baseball on the floor refusing to sign it. Then he was about to leave when Holling's friend return his baseball and left.  The two boys' were in shock, their hero was such a jerk and he crushed their spirits.  Those two boys looked up to this celebrity and Mickey wasn't who they thought he was.  He was mean and judgmental.  If I was Mickey Mantle I would be honored that many different types of kids are fans of mine.  But instead this famous baseball star crushed this boy's heart. "The world should split in two and I should fall into the crack and never be heard from again." Holling reflected on the recent occurrence.  "It hurts more than anything you can talk about." Holling thought.  Holling was embarrassed and ashamed of himself.  Only a mean, cruel, heartless person would cause these shameful thoughts of a young boy that idolized him.  Sometimes your role models and the people you look up to, are not always who they appear to be.

Michael Jackson was somebody that I admired, and he was admired by millions of people that looked up to him.  He was the 'King of Pop' he was amazing.  But he wasn't happy with himself and the way he looked. To almost everyone Michael Jackson was amazing for his personality and his sensational music.  But very few people in Michael's life said hurtful comments that scarred him.  To me Michael Jackson was a great person and still has the reputation of a great person, I thought he was responsible and decent unlike some of the other artists.  But when I heard he was taking drugs I was crushed and disappointed.  All the drugs and depression made Michael not live the long life he should have.  On June 29, 2009 Michael passed away and the whole world was mourning.  I was disappointed; everyone had thought of him as a role model even me.  He was a remarkable singer and person who cared so much about other human beings. All his money and fame and he still wasn't content with his life.  I thought of Michael as a responsible person.  I had no idea he depended so heavily on drugs in his daily life.  I was saddened to learn that behind the scenes he wasn't that person, the person I had thought of him to be.  Many people had lost respect for M.J, but he was not happy with his personal life.  Every time M.J had seen his fans cheering him on, that was what fed him and kept him living happily for a while. Michael Jackson was a true, genuine amazing person but he eventually became overwhelmed with his life and all the stress.  We all make mistakes but this mistake destroyed his life.  We all still adore Michael, may his soul rest peacefully.

"And my goal in life is to give to the world what I was lucky to receive: the bliss of divine combination through my music and my dance."
-Michael Jackson

The Wednesday Wars
Meeting Our Heroes

In the chapter of December, Holling is shocked when he sees the kind of person his idol really is. It all started when Holling gave his idol, Mickey Mantle, a baseball to sign. But Mantle won't sign Holling's baseball because Holling is wearing a yellow fairy suit with white feathers on the butt from the Shakespeare play he was just in. So Mickey Mantle thinks that Holling is gay. The way Gary describes Hollings feelings makes you fell very shocked and sad for Holling. It made me kind of mad because Holling admired Mantle very greatly and Mantle didn't sign Hollings baseball because he had a thought that Holling was gay. It just goes to show that some people aren't the way they seem to be. A similar situation happened to me before. I'm sure you know who the rapper T.I. is. Well before and still right now I loved the songs T.I. rapped and listened to it almost everyday. When my class had to write about a famous person, I wrote about T.I. When people asked me who is my favorite rapper/singer, I said T.I. Then a few years later, I heard that T.I. went to jail because he had possession of gun without a license for it. After I heard about that horrible news, it made me feel very shocked and let down. I had a lot of respect for T.I., but he went to jail for really dumb mistake. But I still liked him for his music. Few years later, T.I. went to jail again for having drugs. That news made me feel very sad. Till this day I still really like T.I. for his music but lost some respect for him for the things he did. Just like Holling, I realized not all people are the same the way they seem to be. T.I. did make some mistakes in his life but I still do like him as a rapper.

Holling's Idol

Holling's Idol

Many people know what it is like to have that one person that you idolize so much.  Holling Hoodhood is fanatical about the Yankees player, Mickey Mantle.  Holling has a chance to meet Mickey Mantle and get a baseball signed.  The night that Mantle is doing this, Holling also has a play that he has to do.  Holling wants Mantle's autograph so badly that when the performance is over he rushes over to the Baker Sporting Emporium in his costume.  Now you may think costume, what's so bad about a costume?  Well, Holling was a fairy in this play so his costume was yellow tights with feathers on the butt.  Plus, since it was December and very chilly outside, he also grabbed a big blue floral cape to keep him warm.  Holling makes it to the Emporium not a minute to spare and he is pleased to see that his idol is still there.  Mantle is with Holling's friend Danny Hupfer, and Holling goes up to them with his baseball.  Then very quietly he asks, "Can I please have your autograph?" Mickey Mantle says ok but then he looks at what Holling is wearing.  He changes is mind saying that it is past the time that he agreed to sign baseballs.  Holling is flabbergasted at his idol's statement.  If I were Holling, I would be thinking, "You are famous.  You are my idol and you can not take one minute out of your time to sign a baseball?"  I think that Mickey Mantle was being pathetic, almost like he thought he was too good to sign a baseball for a kid wearing tights.

I have had my share of idols, I must say.  In the past, I have admired people like Brittany Spears, or Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.  As these people grew up I realized that they took their fame and money and used it to ruin themselves.  Now, I do not feel like I should look up to them.  It is the same for many other actors and singers.  You feel happy for them for making it this far and then they do something dumb that gives you a whole new perspective.

The Wednesday Wars December By : Jodie

The Wednesday Wars

In the book, the Wednesday Wars, the chapter December, Holling meets Mickey Mantle finally, but doesn't get the impression he wanted. When Mr. Mantle said, "I don't sign baseballs for kids in yellow tights." When he said this to Holling, he was very disappointed because he went all the way from the theatre to the emporium in tights and feathers on the butt.
I can relate to this in a text to text. My cousin Michaela from the Philippines wrote me a letter last year about the disappointing Christmas she had last year. She stayed up all night for Santa to put her present under her Christmas tree.  Then he would eat the cookies and milk she left for him on the table. She stayed up all night and then saw her mother put her present under the tree with a tag saying 'From Santa.' Then her mother threw away the cookies and milk Michaela left out for Santa. She had always believed that Santa Claus was real, but had a very disappointing Christmas thinking that Santa was just made up.

Holling's Idol

The other day in class specifically on Tuesday we finished reading the fourth chapter (December) from our book The Wednesday Wars. Mickey Mantle, the greatest player on the Yankees team at that time was Holling's idol and he wanted to get his baseball signed by him since he was at the Baker Sporting Emporium. When Holling got there, Mickey Mantle would not sign his baseball because he was is a fairy costume in a blue robe from the play he was in. The author Gary D. Schmidt showed how sad he was by saying he was crushed and was lying on the floor crying. I think he did not sign the baseball because he thought Holling was gay since he was wearing a fairy costume with feathers on the butt. I remember how I used to think that rap music was so awesomely amazing and that it was the best music on the planet until I realized how much swearing could be in the songs which really turned me off. But just like Holling Something else filled that empty hole in me and it was jazz music. My favourite music artist is Elton John because I really liked the slow smooth beats and then when it picks up kind of like in the song Rocket Man by Elton John if you have ever heard of it. In Holling's case he had a friend to stick up for him and Horace Clark along with one other person from the Yankees team whose name I forgot. The two Yankees players gave him a signed baseball glove, a baseball and he got one of their jackets. My point is sometimes things are not as bad as they seem because usually something better will come up like for me and Holling.

                                                               Relating to The Wednesday Wars

I can't really  relate to Holling myself, but I remember when I was younger I used to love watching the Scooby Doo shows. So as I was trying to figure out how to relate to the story, since nothing ever happened to me like that, I went through my books. After trying to remember what each book was about I decided to look at the old movies I had and came across the movie Scooby Doo. You know classic Scooby Doo shows there is always a mystery that Scooby Doo, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma have to solve. This time the reporter they all look up to was reporting the case and they soon discover she is not who they thought she was. For one thing she was not this great person they all looked up to. She turned out to be very mean woman that change the story just to make it more interesting, get more fans, and make whatever or ever it was about sound even worse. A few times she even twisted some of their words. Another thing about her is she turned out to be the bad man behind everything. So just like Holling their hero was not what they thought.

HOMEWORK

Meeting Our Heroes
When we're young we have the mistaken belief  that adults have all the answers. They know everything and they don't make mistakes. We look up to them. We idolize them. Putting them up on pedestals, we admire them and think that they are perfect. They can literally do no wrong.  Therefore we are shocked to discover that they might not be the people we thought they were. They are not always right, they are not always good, and when we realize this, we may feel disappointed and disillusioned.

In the Wednesday Wars, the protagonist Holling Hoodhood idolises the famous baseball player Mickey Mantle. What happens when he meets his hero? Wednesday Wars

                                                        Wednesday Wars
The Wednesday Wars is a good book writen by the author Gary D. Schmidt. It is about a kid from Camillo Jr. High in Gr. 7. His name is Holling Hoodhood. He has to spend the rest of wednesday with his teacher because he is different then the others. It's good because instead of just telling us what happened he shows us. You think about what could go wrong and maybe something different could happen. At some parts its happy then sad. Something good happens then it goes wrong because of a bad thing that happened. This is such an interesting book that you actually want to read more of the book.
The Wednesday Wars book is a really funny book. The main character Holling Hoodhood talks about his life at school and at home. He is a really interesting boy when he talks about his school he doesn't just tell you he tells you.  So far I really like this book because it shows you every detail so you understand what he is talking about and he tells you in a funny way so you have a little humor and a little sadness. In the beginning of the book Holling thinks his teacher Ms.Baker hates him. But later on in the book he gets stuck because he didn't have the cream puffs for his class so  Ms.Baker gives him her extra cream puffs. So far things for Holling weren't working out but now things are changeing for him! I cant wait to read the next chapter who knows what will come next!
