Religion

                                  Saint Andre

Saint Andre used to be known as "Brother Andre". He was a very special man. Saint Andre built a chruch in Montreal called "St.Joseph's Oretory". When people used to come to his church, he would always be there for anyone. Saint Andre was born in Quebec.
As many people were ill, had a broken bone or e.t.c. they would go to Saint Andre and ask him for advice. He would tell them to pray to god and to give god all of their forgiveness. So, for each and every person that came to Saint Andre, he would pray with them and finally after a week or more, those people would be healed or cured. It almost seemed like magic. Later on, Saint Andre would get a really big line up of people waiting JUST for HIM! This was the whole idea on how he got the name Brother/Saint Andre and this great man Saint Andre, passed away when he was 91, on January 6th, 1937 and until this day, he is still a famous man.

                            WEDNESDAY WARS - Chapter December

I know a text to text about Holling Hoodhood's situation, but not exact. First of all, Holling's situation was just about meeting his hero, but his hero just had to break Holling's heart. While Holling had rushed from his play to the Sporting Emporium, he forgot to bring his baseball to get it signed. So, the bus driver was kind enough and gave Holling a pure white baseball that had been left on the bus. Although that wasn't the best thing, the best thing was, that since Holling was in his costume, he forgot his wallet and the bus driver gave him a free ride because he realized how cold it was. After I tell you what happens, you would think that the bus driver was more of a hero than Mickey Mantle. So, as Holling ran in side of the Emporium, he saw his hero Mickey Mantle and Holling was so surprised that he was stuttering to ask Mickey Mantle to sign his baseball. Once he asked, Mickey Mantle refused to sign his baseball because Holling was wearing yellow tights with a hidious costume. Holling started crying a river and his friend saw him and stood up for him. Since his friend got his baseball signed, he just threw it on the ground because he didn't admire him anymore. Gary D Schmidt was able to SHOW us how Holling felt, since he was let down by his own hero, but then the author gave us a happy picture in our mind because Holling's friend was there to stick up for him.

My reflection of a text to text with this chapter is about a movie that I saw. It was about these seven boys that loved baseball, but they especially loved this baseball player named Babe Ruth. In this movie, Babe Ruth wasn't alive, but he popped up in one of the boys dreams as his room started shacking. So Babe Ruth was talking to the boy about some rough things that was happening, but as Babe Ruth was leaving from the dream, the boy had asked him a question, but Babe Ruth didn't give a specific answer and the boy felt sad because he knew that what happened would never happen again.

                                     THE WEDNESDAY WARS

(What I enjoy about the Wednesday Wars book)

What I enjoy about the Wednesday Wars book is that it has lots of humor. So far, each chapter has had more than one line of humor. I would say that one of my favorite things about the book is that Holling, the main character, himself, is the narrarator of the book. Also, another one of my favorite parts about the book is Holling's sister. She seems a bit snobby, but funny. When we listen to Holling read each chapter, he puts lots of feeling in to it, mainly sarcasm. Mrs.Baker seemed like a really strict teacher, but now i think she had some sort of mood swing. Mrs.Baker went from a devil to an angel. I thought it was really funny how Mrs.Baker got Holling in to reading the Tempest because now these days, kids/teenagers don't enjoy reading Shakespeare, so I could imagine how he felt. Although, besides that, it's a really great book and we've already read the first three chapters (September, October and November).

History homework

Membertou (d.1611)

Membertou was chief and shaman of a band of Micmaq. Membertou had lots of respect from others. He was really the first North American to be baptized at his own country. Sadly no one knows exactly when he was born, but he died September 18,1611.
It was kind because when the French habitation was abandoned Membertou cared and protected that habitation for three years.

Mathieu Da Costa (d.1607)

Mathieu Da Costa was a black explorer and settler. Sources didn't know about how Mathieu got to North America. Da Costa's ability as an interpreter and his knowledge of the Micmaq lifestyle increased the knowledge in the colony. Sometimes Mathieu Da Costa was credited for the friendship and skills between Micmaq and the French. Sadly Mathieu had died in the year of 1607.

Teen Ranch Essay

Teen Ranch

How do you picture Teen Ranch? I don't want to ruin your surprise, but Teen Ranch is like the beautiful outdoors I've never seen before. The indoors are wonderful as well. From my experience, I have a gigantic feeling that once we turn 50, we will still be discussing Teen Ranch with our friends. As you can tell, we had lots of fun, so just to warn you, if you go to Teen Ranch, try not to have too much fun because then you will never want to go back home. This essay is going to be about my three favorite things at Teen Ranch.

Teen Ranch had the best horseback riding I had ever done in my life! Once we got to the barn, I put on my helmet and ran outside. There was a herd of horses to pick from. The biggest horse there was named Spider and the smallest horse was Molly. The horses were so beautiful; so I ended up choosing a soft, light brown and male horse. Right away I knew that he was going to be a great horse and he was. His name was Charlie. If I could, I would explain until tomorrow, how well trained I thought he was. He listened to every single thing I wanted him to do and I had no complaints about him. On the inside I felt almost happier than someone winning the lottery. I was also happy because I got to meet some really nice people too. Their names were Nikki, Cory and Agatha. Agatha was our leader for the week up there. Besides, they helped us learn to ride a horse, so without them we wouldn't have had an awesome experience during our two days of horseback riding. They were such good horseback riders.

Meanwhile, the day after finishing our last day of horseback riding, we all gathered together to play predator vs. prey. I was chosen to be a chipmunk, so I was a herbivore. The point of the game was for herbivores to collect food and water cards, for carnivores to collect herbivore cards and for omnivores to collect carnivore and herbivore cards. The game took place in a big forest, on a rainy day, which had many things to watch out for such as mud piles, some cliffs, logs, big rocks, the swamp of no return and e.t.c. As the game started, many herbivores were the first to find food and water cards. During the middle of the game, it wasn't going to well for anyone. Many food and water stations were empty, but lots of people were getting hurt and falling, including me. As I was getting chased I didn't realize, but I was heading for a cliff, so luckily the person chasing me, (Josh) yelled so loud "CLIFF," that I was able to hear clearly and I slid away from the tip of the cliff. There was also, people tripping over logs while running. Don't forget, some peoples feet ended up in the swamp of no return, including me, but no ones shoe got sinked away. The whistle blew a few seconds after that incident, which meant the game was over. Luckily no one came back crying and everyone had fun! At the end of the game, I collected about 22 food and water cards and had BUCKETS OF FUN!

Teen Ranch had wonderful cabins. I thought of the cabins sort of having some dents in the walls and being small, but they could actually fit 9 people per cabin. There were four bunks and one single bed. It was all carpet except for the washroom. The washroom was tiles. The cabin that my friends and I got was cabin 1, which meant that some certain things didn't look the same as other cabins. My exciting cabin mates were Abie, Keisha, Christina, Christina and Mandy. The funniest moment I won't forget was, one day in the middle of the night, Christina. was waking up to go to the washroom. So she was trying to reach over to my bunk ladder and as she was getting down, she missed a step and fell. It was sad, but kind of funny because her head hit my bunk (which was sad), but once she fell, she responded so loud "I'm okay!" and at the same time she was hoping that she didn't wake up anyone although she woke up the whole cabin except for Mandy. Besides that night, I had a good sleep every other night. I loved my cabin and my cabin mates and I won't forget anything that happened!

My experience at Teen Ranch was such an awesome experience and we all learned to hang out with other people and to work together as a team with friends during activities. I will NEVER FORGET Teen Ranch! Hopefully in the summer, I can visit Teen Ranch with my family. So I had a great experience and I know that everyone else did too!

Halloween Poem

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is a time for people to trick-or-treat at night,
Anyone could get scared so watch out and look left or right.
Someone could just come out of no where at you,
Without even knowing, you'll have no clue.

There could be a ghost here or there,
But you won't find it anywhere.
You will always hear this or that,
You'll never know it might just be a bat.

If you look at the moon you might see a witch,
You can get so terrified and start to twitch.
By the way, if you go to a house that fills up your candy sac,
You will end up wanting to really go back.

So have a fun night,
Don't be such a fright
And to finish my scene,
I would like to say HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

                                                                                                            Boo!

Halloween Story

THE WORST HALLOWEEN EVER

When I was 3 years old I had the worst Halloween ever! First of all, I was dressed up as an M&M chocolate. (How embarrassing is that?) My older brother was dressed up as Saw, and every time I looked at him, I cried. My mom wanted to take a picture of us and right when she was about to take it, I looked up at my brother and cried.
As we were leaving to go trick or treating, I tripped over my brother and fell. He started laughing at me, so for a while I was grabbing on to his foot. Then suddenly, he ended up falling. It was weird because my mom had told me that when he fell, I started laughing and crying at the same time. I must have been a weird baby.
Later on, as we came upon a spooky house, my brother walked up to it and took me with him. I was extremely terrified, that I made a little surprise in my diaper. I screamed so loud that you couldn't even believe it. As my brother took me back to my mom, he slowly went up to the door of this house and rang the door bell. The owners of the house opened the door very slowly then popped out and terrified my brother. It must have been very embarrassing.
Then the very last house we went to ended up being my aunt's house, but I never knew.
So as we all went to the door we yelled trick-or-treat and as my aunt answered the door she picked me up and took me inside then shut the door. I was crying so much I almost made a puddle the distance around an elephant. After my aunt realized how much I was crying she brought me back to my mom and as we opened the door no one was there. I had no idea what to do so I just fell to the ground crying. My aunt felt so bad so she called my mom and told her to come back and pick me up, they tried to pull a prank on me, but it didn't turn out too well.
As I got home my brother was laughing so much I ended up biting his arm, although it didn't hurt him.
Anyways, so that was my worst Halloween that I will never forget.

The Nest

Text to Self Connection

Text to self connection suits me because I can relate to a boy name Jimmy in the story "The Nest." The reason why I can relate to Jimmy is because whenever  I'm not allowed to do something I end up keeping in my anger, but at times I just always have to let it out.  But that's not it. Another reason why I can relate to Jimmy is because when I know that I can do something to make someone happy; I try my best to succeed at it. If I didn't try to do anything, then I'd end up feeling guilty afterwards. One thing that I don't relate with Jimmy is choosing friends. I wouldn't choose friends that come from a reform school because they wouldn't be a good influence for me, but the way Jimmy chose his friend wasn't such a bad thing. He made a reform student a bright and happy person which was a kind thing to do.

Van Gogh

Van Gogh's Life Story

Van Gogh was a good man, but he had struggled through his life. He has had lots of rough times.
Van Gogh and his brother always got along with each other. They would write each other letters to see how they're doing. Van Gogh's brothers name is Theo. So one day Theo came up with the best idea and decided that his brother should become an artist, and Van Gogh agreed with him. In ten years, Van Gogh had made 900 drawings and 1100 paintings. Van Gogh loved doing pointillism art. One of my favorite drawings by Van Gogh was the "Starry Night". Since Van Gogh had ended up going through rough times, he decided to cut a piece of his ear off and kill himself. Van Gogh was alive for 37 years; he was born, March 30th 1853 and died, July 27th 1890. Ever since Van Gogh passed away, he became a very famous artist and I know he's one of my favorite.
