                                     THE WEDNESDAY WARS

(What I enjoy about the Wednesday Wars book)

What I enjoy about the Wednesday Wars book is that it has lots of humor. So far, each chapter has had more than one line of humor. I would say that one of my favorite things about the book is that Holling, the main character, himself, is the narrarator of the book. Also, another one of my favorite parts about the book is Holling's sister. She seems a bit snobby, but funny. When we listen to Holling read each chapter, he puts lots of feeling in to it, mainly sarcasm. Mrs.Baker seemed like a really strict teacher, but now i think she had some sort of mood swing. Mrs.Baker went from a devil to an angel. I thought it was really funny how Mrs.Baker got Holling in to reading the Tempest because now these days, kids/teenagers don't enjoy reading Shakespeare, so I could imagine how he felt. Although, besides that, it's a really great book and we've already read the first three chapters (September, October and November).

  1. Hey Tiffany, as I was reading, I noticed some things that I really enjoyed in the book as well. I too, really love the fact this book is full of humour and sarcasm. Without it, the book would be super boring wouldn't it? Speaking of sarcasm and humour, I really like the fact that you mentioned Heather Hoodhood- Holling's sister. I agree she does appear to be very snobby, but that's what makes the story funny because in reality, sisters can be just like that. Haha, well it's true that not many kids don't read Shakespeare nowadays, and find it boring, but honestly I might be quite interested in reading one of his books in the future. Anyway, your blog was really straight to the point, and I really liked your blog... I wonder what's to come further on in the book! Don't you? Can't wait to read on! :]

  3. I most definitely agree with you Tiffany! This is probably was one of the best books I have ever read and books are not really my thing. My favorite curse from the book that he said was "The red plague rid you"

  4. Great blog. I agree with you, Holling's sister is very funny. The thing I like the most about her is Holling's impresion of her. I also think Mrs. Baker sometimes has mood swings becuse one moment she hates Holling the next she is so nice to him. Kids don't usually enjoy Shakespeare as much as they should, like you said, but I can really imagine what Holling felt having to read The Tragedy of Macbeth during Christmas break. I know if Ms Babb did that to us I would be really mad. Any way, I can't wait to read more either.
