Language: Describe Holling's parents.  What was their relationship with Holling?  Give details from the first chapter of story to support your answer. Your answer should be 1 paragraph long.

Some students have not completed today's classwork on Chapter 1.

History: Reread today's notes on colonization. Colonization is the settling and controlling of other lands. Who were the colonial powers in the 1600s? What is the difference between a mother country and a colony? What is the difference between a raw material and a manufactured product? Is the colonization fair or just to everyone? Why do countries create colonies? Reread pages 24-26 carefully.
