History

Jean de Poutrincourt

In 1604 Poutrincourt, de Monts and Champlain went Acadia to look for a location to set up a colony. He agreed to colonize Port Royal in exchange for fur trading and fishing rights. Poutrincourt instructed the settlers to clear the trees and prepare the fields for seeding. They built a water driven mill. They traded furs with the Micmaq. He brought his family and Father Fleche and converted the Micmaq to Christianity. In 1613 Port Royal was attacked and the buildings were destroyed by Samuel Argall, an English sea captain.

  2. Nice blog! You included most of the details from the book and it was a great read. I feel sorry for the people at Port Royal when it got attacked considering what they went through in order to make Port Royal .
