Van Gogh

Van Gogh

Van Gogh was an unbelievable artist. His art was gorgeous and I don't know why no one liked his art. After he died, his art was one of the most expensive peices of artwork to buy. At least his loving brother Theo was at his side to help him through rough times. I still wonder why would he try to physicaly hurt one of his best friends because of a quarrel. Van Gogh actually chased his friend, Paul, with a razor. Van Gogh ,eventually, gave up the chase and, I can't beleive he did this, cut off the top part of his left ear. I beleive he was quite mad, and misunderstood. An interesting thing, that make me sad, was that he shot himself in the chest. He must have been very depressed and very misunderstood to have done that to himself. It was very sad because two days later, Van Gogh died. It wasn't that bad because Theo fell ill and died too. The people laid the brothers beside each other so they can rest in peace forever. I think that is sweet. My favourite painting by Van Gogh is "Starry Night". For me, looking at it is captivating and takes your breath away. I am very confused because no one in his time liked his art and now, people in this time are buying them for over 100 million dollars. The people in his time are crazy for not liking his artwork. In my opinion they (the people in Van Gogh's time) are the ones who are crazy because Van Gogh's artwork has been one of the wonderful things since Jesus. His art describes things in a way words can't. The meanings of his paintings are symbolic.

  1. I love how you pointed out how van Gogh's brother, Theo, was at his side through the rough times. It is hard to imagine what it would be like to have no one to love you and to have everyone think you are crazy.

I agree that van Gogh was misunderstood and depressed when he shot himself. I believe that you can only go so long doing something that you love when no one understands you. It can get to your head and take control of your life.

Fantastic piece of writing and was fun to read.

  3. Hey! What a fantastic blog Caroline! I agree with many things in your blog! As I read, I can distinguish that you have added a plentiful amount of feeling and self thoughts on his life. Very emotive and you have made the blog a good mixture on a mini biography and what you thought of him. I also agree very much about his paintings being symbolic. I believe that every piece of art should have been created with feeling too. Wonderful blog! A pleasure to read, and I look forward to reading more!

  4. Fabulous blog! I loved the way you informed the readers with facts about Van Gogh. Instead of telling the facts in a boring way, you made it interesting with unique words. You used words you wouldn't normally use. The way you reflected on Van Gogh's life was great! You shared your thoughts and opinions consistently which made your piece of writing really enjoyable.
I absolutely agree with you. Van Gogh was just depressed, nobody loved him or liked his art. How could he have been happy in his life? He was misunderstood not crazy! I agree with you, the people that didn't like his art were foolish. Your work was descriptive and detailed. Great Job!!
    Thanks for sharing

  5. I like your Blog Caroline! It not only showed the good in Van Gogh but also in his brother Theodore. That reminds me on how awesome my brother is and for writing to make you do that it must be good. I don't think people of Van Gogh's time had very good taste in art because now they are worth 1 million at least for 1 piece.
