Today at school the grade eights hosted a career fair in the gym on what they wanted or planned to be when they grow up. Watching and asking a lot of questions today I personally thought that I wanted to be a general surgeon. To become a general surgeon you must go through four to six years of school and you must complete an internship with someone which would also take about one to two years more than after you have to take a internship test and if you fail you have to take the whole course. The pros of this career are saving people's lives over and over again and seeing the happy patients family's smiles on their faces knowing that there family member has had a successful surgery, Another pro is that you get many benefits being a general surgeon but the only one I can remember is dental coverage, The other pro is the pay which is about 49,194 $ to 278 213$ and if you have more experience you also get payed more. The cons are, when one of your surgeries are not successful and you have to go tell their family members that their love one did not pass through the surgery watching them cry, another one is being away from family a lot, and the hours of working are always random, the pressure you get when you don't know what to do, and you always have to be on call. So the person today who inspired me to become a surgeon was Jessa , thank you !.

  1. WOW, being a surgeon can be a lot of work! I'm still not sure what I'd like to be when I grow up, but I know that to be a surgeon, you'd have to have a really strong stomach as well! :S I would probably like to work in the medical field, but probably not as a surgeon. Jessa, and whoever else would like to be a surgeon, is probably really brave to do that type of stuff! Anyway, I enjoyed reading your blog! :) *thumbs up*
