This past week my brother has been nagging my mom for her permission to go to Canada 's Wonderland's Fear Fest. Fear Feast is a fair that takes place in Canada 's Wonderland from the beginning of October to October 31st. There are haunted houses and people in monster costumes and creepy suits. Nicholas has been trying to convince my mom to allow him to go to Fear Fest with fifteen of his friends from school. My mom doesn't want Nicholas to go to a place so far away, when there are all these crazy people running around in their costumes screaming like banshees who harass and frighten others. No adults will be there to supervise so she is hesitant to let him go. The time is from 7pm to midnight .
When I read "The Nest" it reminded me so much of my brother's situation. Nicholas wants to go to a place that my mom doesn't approve of. They have discussed the situation but she is certain that with many different, strange and crazy people around it won't be safe. She doesn't want him to go especially because it is after dark, far away and there is no supervision. It is important to my mom for Nicholas to have friends bigger and stronger than him so he will be protected if trouble ever finds them. It is going to be hectic with so many people around. There will be a large group of kids and somebody is bound to get lost.
I felt terrible for Nicholas especially when he was being so respectful and using his controlled voice like Jimmy. I know that my brother wants some responsibility and freedom and I feel his frustration because he's trying so hard to persuade my mom to allow him to go to Fear Fest. But I also see my mom's point of view of wanting Nicholas to be safe.
I think my brother needs a little responsibility to show my mother that he is responsible and careful.

Great relating in your Blog Christina. I think that Fear Feast is not even that scary or good as a matter of fact. But I can imagine how your brother feels with the fact that he is restricted to his mother to go to something he likes.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog Christina! I like the part in your blog when it says 'crazy people running around in their costumes screaming like banshees who harass and frighten others.' I laughed. Anyways, I also can imagine what your older brother is going through! One day, he will be able to get freedom to go to places he is destined to go! Again, great blog!

Fabtastic blog Christina! I've saw commercials on t.v. about Canada's Wonderland Fear Fest and it looks preety creepy with all of the random people dressed up in costumes scaring people. You're brother must have been really depressed that he couldn't go. This was a fantastic blog and you had really good relating skills in this piece of writing.

Amazing Blog!! It was good of your brother to be calm and respectful instead of overreacting. Fear Fest sounds like a bunch of fun, and I'd want to go to..but the protective parents I have obviously wouldn't allow me to go without supervision. Safety is also big and I can see why your mother wouldn't approve of that idea.
